Think you know Irish folk music? Think again. Liverpool Irish Festival and Static Gallery invite you to a night of music that you’ll never forget.

Featuring the irrepressible Jinx Lennon, one of the most contemporary and cutting edge Irish folk singers around and one of Ireland’s top drummers Rarely Seen Above Ground (R.S.A.G) this night will bring your sense of folk music bang up to date. Clinic DJ’s add to the corker line up.

“Jinx Lennon is a punk poet from Dundalk who uses his voice guitar sampler or whatever is at hand to spread his uplifting words”.

Known as Ireland’s very own urban poet, Jinx Lennon is onto his sixth album. His live reviews talk of his shows as being a mix between a motivational speaker and a preacher.

For those of you who have not seen Jinx Lennon play live, you do not know what you are missing, the songs are a mix of social comment and observations delivered sometimes with hilarious and often outlandish lyrics. Going to a Jinx Lennon gig is always a revelation and chances are you will be humoured, uplifted and gob smacked all in one by the energy he exudes onstage.” Irish Times

Awkward, real, raw and righteous in his mode, he comes out of the northeast lost province of Oriel armed with songs to blow apart the chains in your heads. Songs about kicking against the guff of life. Whether it’s played on a one-string guitar or sampled disco beat and raw garage noise and blues, Jinx’s music is sure to make the atoms on your skin surface vibrate externally for eternity.” Planet gig guide, April 2014.

Rarely Seen Above Ground (RSAG) aka Jeremy Hickey is one of the most exciting Electronica artists coming out of Ireland right now. He records, performs and produces all his own material. Live he is accompanied by a virtual band in the form of silhouettes of himself projected on screen backing his explosive drums, percussion and vocals. His influences range from Talking Heads, Joy Division, Chemical Brothers and Aphex Twin.

He’s just made his 6th appearance at Electric Picnic after a hectic Summer festival circuit. He collaborated with Grammy award winning artist Xavier de Rosnay of Justice, toured with French Electronica outfit Bot’Ox whilst finding the time to work on his third album.

If that doesn’t make you head spin then watch his new live set; the drums are louder, the beats faster and the energy is at a dangerously new level.

One of the most talented mavericks on the independent scene, winning considerable critical praise and building up a devoted cult following.” Hot Press magazine, 2013
