LOCH LOMOND

After a string of head-turning, critically acclaimed releases on Hush Records, Portland’s Loch Lomond has brought their unique brand of raw symphonic chamber pop to Tender Loving Empire. Loch Lomond has slated their much anticipated second full length ‘Little Me Will Start A Storm’ for release on Tuesday, February 22nd 2011 on CD, Vinyl and Digital.

The album was mixed by Adam Selzer (who has recorded all of M Ward’s records), Tucker Martine (Laura Veirs, The Decemberists), Kevin Robinson (of Viva Voce), and Jeff Stuart Saltzman. The stunning track “Elephants & Little Girls,” the first single, is available to listen to right now!

In addition to employing notable visceral and expert melodic acrobatics, the co-ed sextet of Loch Lomond distinctly incorporates the use of vibraphone, piano, guitars, mellotron, clarinet, flute, drums, bass, and other sonic treatments to foil the even more distinct and arresting voice of lead singer/multi-instrumentalist Ritchie Young. He’s able to switch from high-pitched fragility to alto thunder in the turn of a phrase, yet he knows the power of restraint intuitively, saving vocal tornadoes for emotional apexes buoyed by string swells and moving arrangements.

GOODNIGHT LENIN

Formed in the autumn of 2009, Goodnight Lenin’s songs are reminiscent of the singer songwriters of the 1960s & 1970s, whilst still being relevant to the modern day listener.

Inspired by Dylan, Young and Simon & Garfunkel, they constantly strive to deliver honest, experience based lyrics that flow along into their carefully crafted sound that seamlessly crosses genres.

In the beginning, Goodnight Lenin remained undiscovered until a video from a low key gig played in a friend’s kitchen surfaced online. Shortly afterwards they were booked to headline the Lunar Stage at Moseley Folk Festival where they performed immediately before another of their great inspirations – Donovan.

The aptly named ‘Kitchen Tour’ was to continue throughout the start of 2010, whilst also playing shows with First Aid Kit, Darwin Deez, The Features and opening British Sea Power’s festival ‘Sing From Ye Hillsides’ as well playing a packed out set at Bestival.

With press and word of mouth rapidly drawing attention to the band, they entered the studio to record their first single ‘Crook in the Creek’ which was released through Static Caravan Recordings in August 2010. With the single released, they were blessed enough to receive their inaugural radio play recently on Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour, BBC Radio 6 Music as well as receiving radio play from XFM and BBC Radio 2. Goodnight Lenin are currently in the studio recording their follow up EP for a 2011 release.

THE CITY WALLS

The City Walls are a rock n roll folk duo that deserve attention from anyone who holds music dear. Taking their cue from musical heroes such as Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Band and Ron Sexsmith, The City Walls have been drawing comparisons to the likes of modern day acoustic wielders such as Bon Iver, Mumford & Sons and The Tallest Man On Earth at their explosive yet intimate live shows. They weave a multi instrumental rock n roll folk rock sound of acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, violin and heavenly harmonies through tunes dripping with rock n roll passion and immediacy. Early live shows have garnered rave reviews and a following of committed like-minded fans desparate for a music of truthful substance. The City Walls write classy, universal songs to warm the coldest heart and stir the loneliest soul. Be a part

ALL WE ARE

The new Liverpool based Alt-Pop-Psychedelic-Folk Trio given the thumbs up by Tom Waits @ International Songwriting Competition 2011!

UK/Liverpool band All We Are is a neatly matched trio of musicians Rich, Guro & Luis.

Their three part vocal harmonies and kettle-whistling guitar float over flowery bass and hypnotic drums that rise from soft and haunting, to driving anthemic endings and electrifying live shows.

A kaleidoscopically spinning soundtrack to your reccurring daydream…

All We Are have now written and filmed their second EP in a cabin in Norway to be released in late 2011-early 2012, and touring the UK and Europe with Stealing Sheep and Love Inks.
